Application Procedures for Studying in Australia

The application process for studying in Australia is smooth and student-focused. It starts with submitting your academic transcripts, proof of English proficiency, and supporting documents to your chosen university or college. Upon receiving an offer letter, students then organize their health insurance (OSHC) and apply for a student visa, supported by a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). With major intakes in February and July, clear entry requirements, and a streamlined visa process, Australia offers an accessible and welcoming pathway for international students to begin their academic journey.

University Intakes

Australia offers two major intakes—February and July—with some universities also providing additional intakes in September and November. It is recommended to begin your application process 7–8 months before your intended intake, as universities typically take 4–6 weeks to process applications.

English Language Requirements

English language requirements differ by institution. Generally, an IELTS score of 6.0 is required for undergraduate courses and 6.5 for postgraduate programs.

Academic Entry Requirements

Undergraduate – Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must have a strong academic record from high school (12 years of schooling). Certain courses, particularly in Computing and Engineering, may require Mathematics and/or Science as prerequisites.

Postgraduate – Master’s Degree: A recognized Bachelor’s degree with a good academic record is essential. Relevant work experience can strengthen the application. For MBA programs at some universities, applicants may need to demonstrate work experience alongside their Bachelor’s qualification.

Visa Procedure and Fees

The type of visa you need will depend on your chosen course and the duration of your stay in Australia. Detailed information about visa categories is available on the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs website.
